I've tried every trick in the book to get Photoshop CS5 to display the same colors as when I view a picture online, in windows picture viewer, etc... to no avail.

In Windows Paint, the colors look pretty similar to the colors in CS5 oddly enough. And in Lightroom, again, the colors are similar to what I see in CS5.

However, once I upload a photo online, the colors end up looking darker and truer to what I see in other programs.

So... how I do edit photos in CS5, lightroom, etc, and see the colors as they will be on everything else? And, if I can't, which program should I trust to be the standard from which I view my photos? Sometimes I'll edit the contrast, colors, etc, and the photo will look great in lightroom... then, once I open the photo up in something else, it looks slightly too dark and just doesn't look as good until I tweak it more on lightroom to compensate.

I don't particularly want to pick up an IPS monitor with good color accuracy right now. I've tried tweaking the color settings in photoshop. Any input?

Is your camera shooting in sRGB or Adobe RGB? Are you shooting RAW or JPEG?

PS > EDIT > COLOURSETTINGS > RGB should be set to ADOBE RGB

Also, you will never see colour accurately unless your screen is hardware calibrated.

That doesn't help lol. I'm asking about seeing a consistent image whether I pull it up in lightroom, my internet browser, paint, windows image browser, etc.

I tried everything above.

I'm starting to think a nice IPS screen and calibrating it might be the way to go in the future.

I wouldnt think monitor calibration would be an issue considering you are looking at the same image on the same monitor, just in different areas.
I have noticed the issue on my monitor sometimes as well (mainly on images where I bump up the vibrance. It looks good in PS and a bit too vibrant when posted online)
