i want a great video/photo camera. photography is not the main use ill make out of it but id like good quality overall and great video quality.

my budget is fine but im thinking something around 60d - 7d. not willing to get into a 2k $ range without a lens.

so do you guys suggest me to buy a lower camera and better lens for the same price than a better camera with standard lens?

I would say better lens, lower camera. You can get amazing lenses with a low end body of a camera and still take good video/pictures. I assume you can with video, I don't have experience in the video DSLR field (my dslr doesn't even have a video option) so I can't say for sure. But I do like a better lens rather than a better camera, as I have a lot of good lenses to go with my camera. One lens I have costs a lot more than I paid for my camera

See what others think, I am curious too. Good luck, I'm sure you'll enjoy whatever you choose.

If its primarily for video a 5dii or 7d would be nice.

Video is only half res so you can get away with using cheaper primes

ie. 35f2 50 1.8 and 85 1.8

More looking into either a 60D or 7D

So is it worth it to go 7d with regular lenses or 60D with higher end lens. Or anything close to those cameras

Question though, what are the real perks for video for the D60 VS the Rebel cameras? The Rebel cameras are A LOT cheaper and will give you a shit load more room to work with for your lens budget.

So i'm leaning toward buying a t4i. Good idea?

Also, I have no clue what I should get as a great lens. Is the Sigma 18-50mm f2.8 a good choice or are there better (of course) and slightly pricier than this?

Im thinking buying the body at around 700$ and a lens at around 500-600 if its really worth it.

I want great sharpness, great speed and great AF

unless you have an external mic you will be disappointed with any dslr camera. the auto focus is incredible noisy almost sounds like gears are crunching in the audio. also auto focus with lenses is horrible because it zooms in and out back and forth until it thinks its in focus. in low light situations the camera has a really hard time getting in focus and such. at least thats my experience with t2i and the EF-S/18-55 IS II lens.

i havent tried shooting video with a lens that can be set to infinity focus.

overall any auto focus will take seconds of focusing in and out until its focus and is incredibly noisy without an external mic preferably on a boom. so if you want to take moving videos with autofocus on the fly id try to look into real video cameras. if you are staying stil and your subject isnt moving that much then its a great choice.
