I want to start picking up photography as a hobby and have no idea what im looking for when buying a camera.
Mostly I will be taking photos of concerts and skateboarding/snowboarding/ect. But I would also like to be able to
do weddings and well just everything. What is a really good all around camera? My Budget is 3k.

Someone suggested the Nikon D3200? Is this a good camera?

if you have 3k get a d7000 - bigger boddy with just more features.. and a secound display which you will love...

on lenses, get a 24-70 or just a few fixed lenses like a 50 1.8 and a 35 1.8 and 85 1.8....

or on canon side:

get a 60D and 24-70 or a few fixed lenses to begin with :)

Looks like im gonna go with the 3200. It looks like a great camera for what i want to do and it will save me quite a bit of money.
What do you guys think? Am I going to regret this purchase?

I own the D5100 and I love it right now, but if I had more money at the time, I definitely would've gotten the D7000. The lenses are most important, so if you don't mind upgrading the body later, then go for the 3200 and just get some good lenses. =-]

If you haven't used one before, I've heard it's hard to learn how to properly use a wide angle lens. I considered getting one myself, but I'm not sure I'd get too many benefits from it.

I just ordered myself a few lenses today. I had settle a little because of money. The lenses I really want range from $1200-2400. I might end up having to buy those used, cause I'm not sure I'll ever be able to just spend that much, lol.

Yea that's a big chunk of change. It would be hard for me to spend 2k on a lens
