depends. if you just want ONE good flashgun take the 580ex II. If you wanna build up lighting setups with flashguns a la strobist, you are better of taking multiple yungnuos and a set of umbrellas and light stands.

go for the new yongnuo yn-565ex
i would get 1 but i already have a yn-468 for ttl etc (its great btw), i am ordering yn-560's and more rf-603s

580 ex II. you don't want the flash failing you. The only thing I recommend yongnuo for is for the wireless transceivers.

I have a good experience with Metz flashes in case you want to consider this option as well...

I just bought the Nissin di866 Mk II, seems very nice to me and has a very good quality/price ratio.

Also bought a couple of Yongnuo rf603 transceivers, cheap and they do their job.

Check 'em!

I was already planning on buying the yongnuo transceivers but I had to make a choise on what flash unit I would buy

Stay off of Yongnuo's Flashes, I've already had mine break once and I wasn't even using it.

However, when they break the company fixes them for free. You just have to pay to $40 shipping charge. O.o
