I've been taking photos of my friends longboarding and skateboarding and I really enjoy it. But I have a shitty camera and I don't have a job ( I'm 16 )

So I was thinking, is it a good idea to become a Photographer for my future job ? Does it pay well ? Do you need a second job with it ?

And is there a way I can become a photographer for extreme sports ?

Thanks :)

No. Nobody photographs extreme sports. Ever. There are no existent pictures for such a thing. /sarcasm.

If you enjoy photography enough, sure its a good idea to make a profession out of it. It takes alot of work, as you'll be going into business for yourself. You will likely need a second job with it, especially when your just starting, as clients wont be that plentiful.

I wouldn't go with anything lower than Canon 7D.
The photography market right now is super saturated, which is good, because as more and more people continue to fail within the industry and opt out, society will come to re-appreciate the difficulties associated with photography. In other words, right now is the perfect time to learn. Learn video, too.

we are talking about a pretty fast and hectic sport here. you´ll need a very fast and accurate autofocus, along with a high pps-rate to get good results. a canon 7D definately is a very suitable camera for that.
