Hey guys, this topic is because of the low submissions (so far, buy no much time left) to the 5th contest.
The themes till now have been OK, but for the future my "wish list" would be easier concepts where people could find creativity with no brain effort.
I explain myself:
in many of the last themes, participants got lost, many complaints on the relevance of the entries. I believe that as almost all of us are not professionals or have no time to full around with the camera, an easier theme would allow more entries, and the quality of the picture will make the difference anyway.
Examples could be:
clouds, shadows, portraits, etc. These are crap examples, the winner will take a moment thinking on it, but my idea is to keep it simple to not scary the possible participants. And than, the most creative and qualitative solution, will win.
Well, I remember a year or two ago when they had official sticky contests, many of the themes were as you suggested: Simple and comprehensible.
Examples: Blue, Dark, Light, Clouds, Landscape, Urban, Water.
But of course, those who do understand the depth of photography can add more complexity to these themes.
I believe this is win-win: Simple and vague enough for creativity and variation.
