"I don't feel worthy to "evaluate" a Zeiss lens because Zeiss makes the MTF and other test equipment everyone else uses to test their own lenses"

I find it fun :D

dood I dont know what you consider "poor", but somebody who´s running around with a bunch of Ls and other worthy equipment should be quite happy :D
At least as a hobby photographer.

that 50mm isnt actually very good, if i remember right even canons 50mm 1.4 beats is slightly, not to mention that its manual focus..

Oh i see, i thought the Zeiss had better color rendition and bokeh, does it lose out at sharpness? I know it' MF only, but theres something about the zeiss that makes it stand out from the canon 50/1.4. I troll potn's lens sample gallery and i can't stop drooling :(

I thought the context was clear in the title... It is simply a part of the review I was reading.

Btw the new 50 1.4 planar seems to be one of worst performers of the line. Good ones seems to be 18, 21, 50 macro f2, 85 and 100. I am really curious about the new 35 1.4 presented at photokina.

Anyway they are expensive, and with no AF I would probably buy only wide ones.

I was reading an interesting review on the Zeiss 21mm the other day and they were also comparing it to Canon lenses in similar focal length.

That is a good review. It seems that the only optical match for the Zeiss is the 24 TSE.

I like the 18 3.5 because it is smaller, cheaper and optically wider. It seems to be almost as good as the 21.

I don't know about the Zeiss 18mm because I have never really heard of it :D
Though I do regret that I got a 35 f1.4 instead of the 24mm f1.4II :(
it seems to be an awesome lens maybe not as sharp as Zeiss 21mm but
according to that review it's better at handling flares and much less
CA than some of the older lenses and most importantly it's weather sealed.
Yeah I would love to get the TSE 24 except it's like 2400 bucks
Oh there is also the TSE 17mm but it cost even more :D
