Geez, how do they judge these? The winner doesn't appeal in any aspect to me.

The cityscapes are nice, but they are cliche, the dog with his tongue out is kinda cool but it's completely out of focus.

The walk leader picks the photo. There is no voting or anything. Whichever one he likes

I bet he was bribed.

Don't feel too bad about not winning, both areas near me would have kicked my arse.

The second link had couple of nice photos. But i dunno about the first one, it's got tons of noise.

I think this one should have won though. Or maybe the pillar one.

Awe I know exactly how you feel
Remember last year when I entered a photo contest to win a D5000?
Well, all the winners looked like they already had a really nice camera and wouldn't need a new one, and it also looked like a photoshop contest, and not a photo contest....
We put so much into our work, knowing we will most probably not win, but if only we were given that chance......

If they could explain at least why that photo is the winner, then maybe we could all understand a bit more.



Definitely like that one as well.




I HATE the fact that people edit their photos rather than just leave them be to see the real talent. I like photoshop, but not when it comes to contests.... it's like cheating... I could take a really good composed photo and edit the crap out of it to make it look 100 times better.
