We had a massive snow storm. I live in Saskatchewan, where there pretty much isn't any snow like this, and where the city sells their snow plows because they are never used.

I think we needed them back that day...

These photos aren't even the ones with the snow at it's worst. I got these pictures earlier in the day, later on it was pretty bad.
If I knew it was going to get worse I would have taken photos later. I don't know why I didn't :\

1. Oh hai there! This is my mom & dad's BBQ - the snow on top of the lid. Took this photo from inside.

9. The backyard again, the shed

Haha you noticed the detail on that bbq eh? I kinda noticed that too. The shape on there is from the handle to open it up. It's kinda neat.

A friend of mine commented "<.< Penis on a BBQ wut??"

When photographing in snow ALWAYS overexposure the pictures to prevent them from having gray or blue snow, like your pictures have. Use like +1/2 stop, or more, depending on the sun light and amount of 'whiteness'.

Interesting, I didn't realize that. Thanks for the tip! When you say use +1/2 stop what does that mean? The aperture?

Freezing rain is the last thing we want here! It lasts forever and makes the roads pretty slick. It always happens; when it rains, it freezes, and the next day is really cold O-o.

Hahaha, good question... I think I'll have to establish this once I take another look at it. Saw it the other day actually, and the snow is still on the bbq, but now it's limp

Exposure compensation. by adding 2/3 of a stop. You make the snow appear white like it naturally is. If you don't compensate for exposure, the camera's meter will meter for a neutral scene (18% gray) which will make the snow appear darker.

Depending on the scene, you might need to add as much as 1 1/3 or 1 2/3 stop of EV. :)
