By far my favorite owl out there, and this is definitely one of my favorite shots I've taken of them.
I feel lucky to have spotted this in Bird Reserve a few days ago, as it is fall and they usually tend to bled in more with the fall colors.
However, quite happy with it :)

Just so everybody is away, this is SOOC *except* for a Contrast Increase of +10 in Photoshop CS3.

I was so sick yesterday with side effects of the H1N1 Flu shot, however I find the side effects are far less than what could happen if I caught the Flu.
Feeling 100% today, which is great for my H'Ween party tonight! :)
Off to play some TF2 then clean up the house! Have a good halloween!

You sure this is a GHOW? It has more orangey eyes indicative of a Long Earred Owl, and is blending in the forest nicely

Yup, there's no Long Eared in Alberta, at least Southern Alberta.
I actually showed the shot to a naturalist at the reserve and he said it was a GH'd.

Awesome shot - I'd like to see more of the other eye in the shot though. Not looking directly at you, but a little bit more towards you.
Ask the owl to turn it's head a few degrees towards you next time. (Yep, sarcasm)

Thanks,

I actually had it set back to Normal mode for this one, not Landscape.
Shot in Manual. Hence the *SOOC*

Custom Rendered: Normal
Exposure Program: Manual
File Type: JPEG
Exposure: 0.008 sec (1/125)
Aperture: f/4.0
Focal Length: 200 mm
ISO Speed: 200
Exposure Bias: 0 EV
Flash: Off, Did not fire

Thanks! ^_^
I actually waited 15ish minutes for the owl to actually turn its head and open its eyes!

normal mode has too much sharpening allso for pic that small, landscape only has one step more sharpening than normal. you should set sharpen to 0 and sharpen on photoshop after resizing if needed

Normal mode is the mode it's originally in for all DSLR's.
Sharpen is set to 0 in Photo shop, it's always set to 0 as default when started.
I didn't sharpen this at all in camera OR post processing.

Normal/Standard 0,0,0 <<<
Landscape 4,0,0

Photo shop would only be above 0 if I specifically went into Filters > Sharpen, which I did not.Again, hence *SOOC*
