I got this camera given to me randomly from one of my uncles... he got it from some people he knew and they've had it for years... found it in the garbage...

I don't even know if it works... I have no batteries in it. It seems like a cheaper camera, but I thought I'd post and see if any film photographers knew anything about it... if you've seen / used it before etc.

I had trouble finding a site explaining the camera.... all I found were 35mm ones.

Oh my freaking God! You actually got a medium format camera for free :O

Some info and history about this camera:
http://www.thecamerasite.net/01_SLR_Cameras/Pages/mamiyaze.htm

and manual :O (ignore the donation part and scroll down lol)
http://www.butkus.org/chinon/mamiya/mamiya_ze-2/mamiya_ze-2.htm

I don't know much about those cameras but from what I have heard they are perfect for photos for large prints and I am sure you can take some awesome landscape photos with it :)

Hmm - interesting. It seems a little more complicated to use than the one I used in school.

Medium format camera? What does that mean?

Well the little I know about medium format is that the film is larger than the 35mm standard films. I am sure Antichrist would be able to tell you ALOT more since he has one too xD

haha check the picture that compare the size of medium format film with the 35mm film lol it's freaking HUGE!!

I do not know if it helps.

Mamiya ZE-2
Introduced in December 1980, the Mamiya ZE-2 (right) continued the quartz-regulated metal focal plane shutter begun in the ZE. Both cameras have an automatic exposure with aperture priority and, once it is determined, the aperture setting on both can be locked. The ZE-2 added a shake-prevention warning and a shutter-speed dial, and allowed a manual override (you can't select a shutter speed manually on the ZE). An electronic sensor coupled each lens to the camera through six gold contact points. The sensor automatically selected the slowest hand-held shutter speed possible for that focal length. The Mamiya ZE-2 was also rebranded and sold in Germany as the Revue AM.

Like the ZE, the Mamiya ZE-2 requires four (4) MS76 or equivalent batteries. It also uses the same sharp, contrasty Mamiya-Sekor E or EF optics that were found in the entire Z-series. However, perhaps because the ZE-2 is seen less often than its ZE cousin, it frequently brings a slightly higher price in auction.

I don't know what lens you could find for that camera but if you could find something like 20mm lens it would be like super ultra mega wide on a medium format and you would be able to take pictures that look almost like panoramic :O, lol just a wild guess though :)

EDIT: Just saw something in that manual

It seems you will need 4 of those expensive button cell batteries :o

OUCH! hahaha I probably should have read the whole manual before telling her that it's a medium format even though Mamiya is quite famous as a maker of medium format cameras :p
