hi i've got a canon 1000d and a centon fg 20 flash gun.
i want a cable to connect both of them so i can move the flash gun around while it's still attached.
but i'm not sure what cable is compatible for this?

has anyone ever used this? I'm looking at getting one - but it doesn't seem long enough to have my flash on a stand for example.

and it seems a tad expensive - at least it's weather sealed - I think.

yeah i was wondering about weather it matters if your flash gun is dedicated or not?
and also there are some cheaper chinese versions on eebay and also the real canon one which is more.

I use this when i want to take flash off camera, its the best way if you dont want to take flash too far away(unless you mod it to longer cable). That cable lenghts only to about 1m and is about 50-60cm long and if you want to strech it to 1m you need to use force that makes your tripod come with you. I modiefed my cable to about 1.2m long and streches about 40cm more, you can make the cable about 5m long but then ettl might not work or you can put a plug between the extencion and get few cables. 580ex II flash has some small weather sealing on the hotshoe, so that small rain wont go to hotshoe so easilly, this cable has same small rubber things on hotshoe, but if you dont have 1d series camera, weather sealed flash and weather sealed lens those small seals doesent really matter, since you shouldnt use your camera in rain enyway.

buy an eebay trigger, and mod it with an extension cable to make it much longer. (Check Google for more info, and tutorials on how.)

OR Buy Cactus V2s, NO wire and much cheaper.

If you have any questions about the mod Im sure either of us can help you ^^. Its not a big deal if its something you decide to do. If I were you and I wasn't using a cannon flash I think I would also look into one of the eebay triggers.

No no, don't buy it directly off eebay, buy from Gadgetinfinity.

Cactus V2's are the ones I use, they work like MAGIC!! Perfect wireless triggers, and such an amazing price!! Honestly, I've never had 1 problem, not even 1 misfire! They rock, seriously!
(and they have a huge range, especially being radio transmitted and not infared.)

does ettl work with cactus triggers? If not then it would be easier just to use cable if your not using the flashes in studio and you dont want to learn how to manually control the flash
