I'm new to photography and i need a lil' help :-P

Two pictures i took first, followed by an explanation.

So, this tree is kinda important to me, and i really want a certain lighting effect on it, but i have no idea how to get it.

I want the light to look more like it does in the first one, but from the direction of the second one. The light just seems to come spilling over that tree whenever i can get the light on the ground like that.

Thanks for the help!

You will have to wait until the sun is in the right direction.

Well then you probably want to retake that picture from a different angle away from the sun or even better go back there during the sunset and I am sure it would have looked a lot more spectacular with the darker and almost red light from the sun

I would suggest try this at sunrise! Or sunset! tongue.gif I like the first angle the most, cause the sidewalk gives it a different feeling, rather than just a "snap shot" look.

try different shutter speeds and stuff aswell if you have manual settings, because the 2nd one is really over exposed in most of it , keep playing with different settings, lights times of the day if you have time and patience and you will be rewarded

besides the things everyone else has said.

i think it would be pretty if you got closer into the tangled branches, since theyre what stands out the most about the tree.

Welcome to the photography section, I'm new here as well.

I like the first picture, but the second one the lighting is just a little odd.

your camera will have an exposure compensation scale, from -2 to +2 or somthing similar, if there is really bright light like that and your picture turns out similar to the second, just drop this slider down to -1 or if necessary -2, this should help a lot

I wasn't sure about the first angle, and it's harder to get a picture from that angle. Always people in the way :-/ I'll try at sunrise and different times, see how that helps.
