Before Photoshop CS3/CS4 was introduced with its photomerge function, Panorams were quite difficult. IT was a must to use a tripod, and remember a bunch of settings.
But now, with Photoshop you can literally handhold your panoramas, as long as you remember 1 thing:
Overlap every image about 20%That is it. All you have to do is take a series of images panning across an area, overlapping each image 20%
Then, you go into Photoshop. (Don't import the photo, don't create any new project)
Then, go to:
File>Automate>PhotoMerge.
Then a dialogue will open, and you will select the panoramic images to merge together.
Keep the layout set to "Auto" and press ok.
It will generate them and do everything for you!
All you now have to do is crop it down to size

All of these were hand held, Merged with CS3.
