How did you get the lighting on #1 that good, did u use a flash?

#2 is a Tiny bit over exposed imo. But both really good on the eyes

Yeah I had flash bounce off roof.
(off camera flash)

I mainly focused on the eyes.

if you have a flash which only points forward whats the best thing to do?

Get a diffuser/bouncer to soften the light and reduce harsh shadows.
