Hey guys, heart.gif :3 Just have a quick question - I've noticed that occasionally when I take shots with my D80 I get what photoshop refers to as "lens viginetting". By that I mean that beautiful black frame around shots. I was wondering if this is some kind of setting on slr cameras or if it's just a "side-effect" of over (or under) compensation of aperture/shutterspeed/iso etc? I really think it looks good and I'm basically just wondering where it comes from xD My only guess is that it must be the camera lens taking in the darkness from the frame of the lens (if that made any sense haha).

Thanks happy.gif

I don't think I have ever experienced vignetting with my lens but from what I have heard it's quite common among wide angle lenses and at wide open aperture so maybe you could reduce or eliminate that by using a narrower aperture (higher F number)

Ah, yeah. Thing is, I think it's really beautiful xD I love adding it to certain macro shots in photoshop as it gives a sense of completion imo. All pictures deserve some kind of border :3

If you shot raw you can allso remove vignetting from the settings, and yeah it shows more if you shoot with low f-numbers

lmao! It's ok I think I am patient enough to wait another day for you to upload your photos, mr Gab laugh.gif
You are just like me, a night owl, in fact I am leaving for work pretty soon, going to work another night shift here biggrin.gif and I just LOVE working during the night.
I haven't really been sleeping very well for some time now and sometimes I only sleep for like 3 hours before I had to go to work but sleeping is just waste of time, right? biggrin.gif

Astragony: (From the dictionary) Too professional for this forum. (LOL jks heart.gif)

Anyways, I like vignetting a lot too! I have no clue how to actually achieve it without editing so I just use CS3 and add it in sometimes.
Tell me if you figure out how to do it though!

You need a lens that makes vignetting, allso on a crop sensor you wont see much that since the part that makes vignetting is cut off. Mostly its some really old lenses that makes vignetting enough to be seen on a crop camera
