I got a D80 for Christmas! I was really surprised as I didn't even know my parents knew I wanted one :3 Never thought they'd spend that kinda money either haha. Wells, I'm in . Kinda tricky to find out where the hell the aperture & stuff is on it but I'm learning ... the manual is hopeless. Oh, and the pic is terrible not even worth criticism, I just had to flaunt it MERRY CHRISTMAS!

oh btw reading manuals don't usually get you anywhere you just need to practice some more and maybe read a few online tutorials at least that's how I learned to take photos with my dslr

Heh, I will! Yeah, It's funny since with this camera every single macro pic looks amazing. As far as regular pictures go I was just able to find out how to change the aperture/shutter-speed (dammit, wasn't even listed in the manual! o.o") and I'm messing around with it to try and get it as I like :3 Unfortunately my battery is uncharged atm though >_<" Lyckost indeed

hmm did you try to use different settings on your mothers G9? I learned quite a bit by experimenting with different settings back when I only had a point and shoot camera and later on I played around with a Canon eos 400D that belonged to a friend of mine so I was a lil bit familiar with dslrs before I bought my 40D

Well I'm actually damn surprised. I think they're kinda just happy I have a hobby rather than just messing with my comp :3 Yeah, I tried loads of different on the G9. The difference here is that I'm totally inexperienced in using the viewfinder to take pics as opposed to the lcd. Do you know if you can set it so you can use the lcd instead?
