Kodak EasyShare Z1285: Verdict
Thankfully, Kodak have got rid of that horrible ISO8000 setting that plagued the Z885 and have kept with a more modest ISO1600 maximum, although the performance of that is bad enough.

I'm surprised that the camera comes with features such as manual mode and manual focus. The camera seems to be aimed at those who take photography relatively seriously, yet the camera can't get very close to focus and the continuous shooting performance was dire.

The price will attract the sort of consumer that Kodak seem to be aiming their cameras at. Those who are big with online communities, enjoy sharing and wouldn't be out of place in a Gap advert.

Kodak Z1285 Kodak EasyShare Z1285: Plus points
Good price
Good colour rendition
Excellent features

Kodak EasyShare Z1285: Minus points
Bad noise results
Poor drive mode performance

well it is a nice camera at a very low price. but I am very skeptical about the high ISO performance of those point and shoot cameras and I am sure even at iso 1600 the noise level would be still extremely high. I believe it has to do with the much much smaller CMOS/CCD sensors those point and shoot have and coupled with high amount of pixels the noise would be very noticeable even at low ISO, probably around 400-600. My old point and shoot camera had very noticeable noise already at ISO 400 and it only got 5.3 Mpixel. just imagine the noise level on this camera with 12 Mpixel and at ISO 1600 ohmy.gif

but of course if you dont want to spend 500+ dollars on a good camera this one should be pretty good and at a very low price too

well if it says it has 12 million effective pixels then you should be able to change the current setting...
and yes I believe you can change resolutions on most cameras
