Alright, so on November 15th (hurray for payday!) I'm gonna be buying the "Nifty Fifty" Canon 50mm lens, which I have heard nothing
but amazing reviews for it!
It's only about $129.

Now, saving the rest, and waiting until December 15th I'll have about $700 now, (Or possibly more if our boss gives us a Christmas $ bonus like last year!)
I'm found this, the Canon EF 70-200mm USM L series telephoto lens! Comes with the hood too.

I've read a lot of great reviews and seen some amazing sample shots and I am pretty set on buying it, but I wanted to know
your thoughts too, before I drop $700 on a lens lol!

L on canon lenses basicly stands for quality, allso as far as i know all l lenses comes with hood and atleast most with bag for the lens. I dont think u can go wrong with l series glass if its the right focal lenght and opens wide enough for you. 50mm 1.8 is great in image quality, but its built cheap and af on it isnt great, af on is pretty fast, but tends to haunt in dark. I got that 50mm 1.8 and imo its a must have for every canon owner, if u dont want to put more cash for more expencive primes from about same focal lenght. Personally i dont need telephoto that much, so 55-250 is going to have to do it.

Im thinking about 50mm 1.2l, it would be great for winter on my 1d since its weather sealed and f-1.2 allows to shoot in dark. But it costs so damn much and i could get allmoast same resaults with the 1.4 version that costs like 1000 euros less, but without the weather seals..

well its always nice to get one of those L lenses but it really depends on what you are going to use it for. if its mainly for wildlife and sport events then I think the IS version would be better but it will cost more, of course lol



hahaha it sure is crazy how different the prices are on those lenses. I havent read any reviews on the 50/1.2 because its a lens I dont think I will ever get because of the ridiculously high price

you thinkin to buy an "L" lens...
do u have an idea of what u will shot with this lens?
i mean, before buying something for XXX dollars, think if effectively yours shots are most with the focal range ull have becose remember 70-200nn on an aps-c = 105-300mm~

I would be using the 70-200mm for outdoor and landscape, nature, birds and other animals. (And I know for sure there will not be no shortage of light outside)

You can get the 50mm f/1.8 for $85 on amazon right now. Just FYI.

Too bad I don't have a credit card, pay-pal account or any other way or ordering it online.

+ I'd rather pay a bit extra to have it in my hands when I want it, not worry about shipping and be able
to return it if I don't like it and get my money back.

You could buy a pre-paid Visa at a store with cash, and use it on amazon? Get one with $100 on it and it'd be $85 for the lens plus (i think) free shipping. Then use the rest of the $15 wherever, and you'd save $45.

I think I remember the L being about $600 on there too, but that's a bit tougher if you don't have a credit card - even if you had one they'd probably start you out at a $500 limit which wouldn't be enough.

edit: I don't think you'll have any problems not liking the 50 f/1.8

comparing the prime 50mm with 700-200 L is like comparing toilet paper with a hundred dollar bill both are very useful but still very different
