I have $970, so I will have a bit extra to buy a new Tripod, or some other goodies biggrin.gif

Any ides?
+ It's a Canon, which has much more lens capability, I'm so excited I found this camera!!

12.1 MP.
3.5 FPS
Digitic III
3" LCR w/ live view (can be disabled too)
really good menu interface.

+ it has a little sensor in front of the eyepiece that knows when you looking in it and shuts off the LCD.

Save your money and buy a decent tripod. Don't bother wasting money on a cheap one ... you'll end up buying another later.

If you have a couple of hundred bucks extra I would maybe consider buying a comfortable bag, a better shoulder strap, a larger memory card and maybe a couple of filters such as Circular Polarizer, UV, Graduated ND depending on what you want to take pics of. Oh and of course $200 extra wont cover everything I listed unless you skimp on quality - which I never recommend.

I can get decent discounts on good items from a local camera store around here, actually the biggest in my province.
I got a 90$ filter for 54$ from a guy I know there smile.gif

Here's that thing on tripods ... it gives one the right idea. You can apply this to all your purchases.

uh it entirely depends on what he will use his camera for. you dont need a pro tripod to take good pics in fact what is more important is the camera itself and lenses. I mean if you have a good camera (I think XSI is more than good as your first DSLR) and a fast and sharp lens you dont really need a tripod most of the time. so i'd rather save those hundreds and buy either a better camera or good lenses... it's just sounds ridiculous to spend hundreds on unimportant accessories like straps and bags. no offense
