so the idea is basically resources are scarce and survival is the name of the game. I don't know how it would work out but things like trees, coal, and iron are few and far between and the things that are everywhere like dirt and stone that make building materials often don't actually give you a block when you mine them. So gathering enough materials is difficult. I'm not too sure about the latter part, it might make it too grindy, but it's just an idea.
Also, mobs are going to be incredibly hard to kill and will be very dangerous. So going out at night would be a horrible idea and you would need to go into caves with extreme caution.
