Creative mode?
Do you mean the mode that lets you build with any blocks in the game? That's classic mode -- check the minecraft website for that. Singleplayer minecraft was only meant to be A survival game, where you have to gather your blocks to build. Otherwise if you want to build creatively, you need to "hack" your save file. Search INVedit on google for a program to do so.

I've heard it be called creative too.
I've tried INVedit, it works fine, but I'd like to be able to just have everything without having to quit and run INVedit then turn it back on.

There's a neat plugin that allows you to spawn any block in minecraft, in realtime. I honestly don't remember the name of it but I know it exists so keep searching google. I'll pm you if I remember.
