I am thinking of jumping back into MapleStory. I previously played for about 4 years and have been on break for about a year. I played a little after Big Bang but not much.
A friend of mind is trying to rope me back in but I am not sure about all these new classes. When I first started there were only Adventurers.
Would it still be relevant to make a Hero or do new classes over power the old?

Side question, does MapleStory support controllers now?

The original adventurer classes are overpowered by the new classes now. With the exact same gear, the new classes have significantly higher DPS than adventurers.

Some of the new classes are pretty fun to play though. You should give a few of the classes a try since it is so easy to level now. Also, 3rd job change is level 60 now and 4th job is level 100.

Also, the Maplestory forum here on jsp is dead so you probably won't have much luck buying items here :/

I find adventurers more fun to play. Not because they're more OP because they're clearly under powered until they finally release their Hyper skills. If geared enough, yes, they're still extremely viable and are pretty good. I still prefer my Shadower over any class out there, but that's just me. No, it doesn't hit as much, but it's most definitely more fun.

Maplestory does support controllers. (I use mine sometimes) but some skills do not work with it, like Aran combos.

4th job change is at level 100 for all classes that have the 1st, 2nd, 3rd, and 4th job advancement pattern. Cygnus Knights are an exception; I am not sure how their job system works now. I am also not sure about dual blades and evans since they have the weird multiple job advancement system.

^ Agreed. My main is also a shadower. Dual blades will hit a lot higher with the exact same gear, but I find shadowers more fun. It really depends on your own personal preference though.

Unless you plan on funding a shadower to like 300k range with boss damage... then the 8 hits from midnight carnival will have higher dps against bosses than the 6 hit limit of dual blades cuz of damage cap. I don't think hero had any skills that hit a lot of times though.
