Is there a way to update maple before the maintenance? I know previously on some
of the updates you were able to update maple during its downtime so you could play
moment maintenance was finished.

Just to answer your question. Those times were when Nexon GAVE patch updates already to download and put into folder. They haven't done that at all recently because they have also been fucking up hard. They need their maintenance time to fix everything they fuck up. So yeah, the updates given beforehand will probably never happen again.
