Well this is the situation, I just want to know what you guys think of it.

In maplestory, it is against the ToS to sell/buy accounts and items. However, does that also account for real life? I bought these items off this person for around $1500, well was suppose to through bank wire transfering. But I canceled the wire transfer and he didnt recieve the money because I was supposedly getting ddos hacked by a certain someone in maplestory who kept sending packets of backdoor/keylogs. I thought it was him at first, *the seller* in which i canceled the wiring, but it was someone else, a well known hacker in the game. So i tried to get in contact with him, the *seller* but he wouldnt respond. So after a couple of weeks, he sent an MSN message saying that he tracked my ip address through netstat and was going to file a suit against me through a small claims court ( he lives in Canada). He also found me on facebook, which I did not accept him as friends for I was pretty nervous. The thing was that my location was revealed in facebook; only the city and state was revealed. So he has my city/state/ and ip address currently. He said it was easy to find my location cause he was supposedly studying software engineering in college. But he didnt state my exact address, so I am having doubts. Anyways it been almost a month now and I was trying to get in contact with him through maplestory in game and MSN messenger so I can return the items back to him. But he hasnt been on in either of those. The last messages he gave me was the actions he was going to take which included coming down from Canada to Georgia to recieve payment or filing a small claims court. He also said he wanted transportation fees too. All in all, im in a really big turmoil right now on what to do.

This is the exact situation that has happened. the other thread i posted was a rushed somewhat scared post. Please understand guys. I am really in a pinch on what to do.

To be honest, if he has proof he could maybe do some things, but in canada the court will probly laugh in his face, never saw anybody here get far with something like this except if he had like a thousand proof and anyway you want to give him his things back. With netstat he could only get your ip if he had access to your computer anyway. Just by the fact that he is unreachable is in your favor, just calm down, nothing big will happen. And the ToS will probly back you up if anything happen.

But by the way you really wanted to spent 1500$ on maplestory?

hm well it looks to me, it is illegal to sell ur account via cash in maplestory let alone to buy meso somtimes. but people still do it. so if he does sue you, he'll just be laughed at in court
and the trial would just subside. the scary thing is that if he acually shows up to your house, he might sentence a death threat on you, considering its 1500$ and he's a desperate man/teenager lol.
i would be kinda semi-scared in your shoes. well i have a 9mm so i wouldnt be that scared but. just keep the items dont give it back to him just quite yet
wait until he contacts you back, obviously if he isnt contacting back that means he is just finding a way to blame you or try to sue you.

Ok, in your post it seems that you are trying to "scam" this guy.. i frown upon it but I hope I can give you some help so that charges are not pressed.



Maplestory: All user accounts are property of Nexon correct? If it is then this guy can't "technically" charge you with theft of the items.

if he does happen to show up in your city to "charge" you, you could notify the local police and have them place charges on him for invasion of privacy and possibly stalking.


The guy finding your city and address is pretty easy to do if you have you location service on facebook activated, and by doing a email search he could find you and any info on you that you allow via privacy settings
eg: search by email - find user - have details

he probablly used netstat commands while you two were chatting via msn messenger, netstat commands allows the user to get the TCP/UDP packets that are being sent / recieved from the target computer.
using a program called wireshark, someone can view the packet communication betweens computers.

eg: netstat -a allows the user to view which ports are open / closed, used with -b will show which programs (.exe's) are running and using whatever ports they use.

So i would change your IP address and send him a email stating what happened and tell him he if continues to attempt to press charges that they wont be pressed do to the situation that has occured and that untill the matter is resolved there will be no transaction.


Also using a network intrusion software eg Nmap you can ping a computer if they know the ip address, then once they have your ip address he could run any sorts of DDoS programs
If not hard for Script Kiddies to click a button to do malicious damage to a computer.
