Nexon is greedy, game became pay to win the second they introduced potential. Games super fun when you don't even need a party or teamwork right?
I played off and on since before the cashshop was even introduced, the game was so much fun back then. Grinding for panlids at green mushrooms in henesys. Then later on after cash shop was introduced just trying to get to 3rd job, then later on doing Zakum runs with 6-12 people using apples and selling the ZHelms, hoping one day your group would be able to do horntail. You actually had to work hard and dedicate time to get anywhere. Now some people can get to level 200 in less than a week, some new person can just start the game and be richer than people who have played for months/years.
Pathetic. Every single person I know who played Maple quit within months of potential being introduced. Most of them had been playing since the cash shop was just introduced or before that.
Heck even this MS section used to be semi populated, now look at it lol. 1m:1fg even then having trouble selling it? Used to be 1fg:30k-50k and easy sales.
Edit: Oh and in case you didn't know, the reason for this red update was because Maplestory was losing so many players that they needed to try and spark interest in it again in order to retain players. It doesn't seem to of worked. Even the company knows they screwed up but they are going to keep bleeding people dry until there are so few players that the game just shuts down.
I'm not saying switch it back to 07, that is impossible. People have invested real money into the game to get items that would disappear if reverted. I am saying they never should of changed the game by adding potential in the first place. They could try and bump interest in the game by making cubes available for mesos or only 1 cube type in cashshop rather than like 20, and make 1 or 2 servers have no potential system, remove the limitations on transferring items within the same account so that your Shadower can wear same gear as your NL etc.

You don't own a giant populated mmorpg and neither do I, but I know for a fact that when you have a game, updates are needed to keep players/attract new ones. Every MMORPG is like an army in a war, they have to update, introduce new things to keep up with the par of other mmorpgs. They way you describe how maplestory works is basically every other game in existence, you think with the massive amount of people that play, they wont introduce cash shop or something to draw in money? You can't run Maplestory off a computer bud, you need funding from somewhere. I'm sorry to say you're wrong and you have the wrong idea of video games, you're upset with an update, MS is fine the way it is.
