Is it worth paying $0 for? Yeah, I'd say free is worth it...

I think I spent around 45 bucks on this game. There were two packs in alpha where you got something like 11 heroes, a few mounts, and several skins for 45 bucks.

I enjoy the objective style game types and map variations, lot different than league.

Yeah, having different maps and shorter games definitely is a huge plus.

Yes, I forgot to mention the game length as a big plus to me. I had a hard time finding 45+ mins to dedicate to a game of league of legends. This games are a lot faster.

Biggest selling points for me were: game length, general community quality, and team leveling

I tried league on several occasions. I didn't dislike it, but I would play 1-2 games then not play again for months. League can be very frustrating.

You have people there who want to play a solo game with 4 randoms as their personal support. "I'm farming EXP this lane, fuck off.... I'm outnumbered this lane, everyone drop what they're doing and come protect me". It never interested me. Watching 1 teammate ignore his surrounding partners for 30 minutes just farming EXP so he could essentially solo push 1v5 and brag. Not to mention the fact that if you're frustrated with your team composition, or you're getting snowballed, or someone in your party is being Toxic - You're stuck with them for 45-70 minutes. Enjoy.

I've bumped into one 'toxic' player in 80 games on HotS so far, and he was clearly a young kid (Flamed everyone for 20 mins then when the 4 of us told him to shut up and help the team he stood at base not helping and laughing saying "enjoy your loss"). Generally speaking each game starts with 1-3 "Goodluck guys" and ends with a "gg" even if you're blown out.

Comebacks are a lot more common, too. Was in a game where we were out-leveled 20-16 and we capped a few merc camps and won the objective and made a complete comeback to win. In LoL, once the ball is rolling and one of their heroes gets to OP level+item combo, you will just be repeatedly ganked.

I'm hooked on HotS, can't wait to get home to play it. The 20 minute games make a night of gaming more rewarding. Can get in 10 games comfortably, as opposed to 3.
