Since hots is still pretty new the game engine optimization updates aren't here yet so here's a few tips to improve frame rate.

ctrl + alt + f to view fps in game

1. In game go to video settings, put everything on low or off particulary indirect shadows.
2. In battle net client go to hots > game settings > launch game in 32 bit client checked [helps alot]
3. Check gpu driver updates, nvidia recently just put out a HOTS update
4. Turn on vertical sync [helped alot worked wonders for me]
5. If u have windows run the game while in aero theme [surprisingly more fps then other themes]
6. If u have an nvidia card go to nvidia control panel > global settings > restore defaults [you may have messed up ur settings]
7. If u have a nvidia card don't use the 1 click optimizations [most the time they're bad]

I've been having the most problems with black hearts bay, when the cannons are active my fps drops to 30 pretty annoying or when I'm at the enemy core and there's like 100 minions.
I run a gtx 770 and an 8 core so that's how u know the game is badly optimized atm, hopefully they optimize soon if ever.

aero mode is generally more tasking on your system and gaming
Some people need to change radeon ATI settings or whatever if they don't use Nvidia
Vsync will Also be more tasking on your gpu and is only used for screen tearing. It absolutely will not help FPS for most people.
Mine literally doubles when I turn it off.

ye vsync only helps me in this game so i figured id add it

aero mode usually doesn't help but i get more frames for some reason

well man to each his own but I have both disabled and my FPS skyrockets


Quality suffers but if you're purely talking FPS then yeah

well i have a 60hz monitor

so since the game is badly optimized

when the fps drops without vertical sync on it will go from 100 - 30 fps

well with vsync capping at 60

when it drops it goes 60-30 instead of 100 - 30 which is actually a big difference
