That's the highest you can get after 10 matches.
Every Rank 1-6 gets into Diamond.
Yeah I figured. Seemed like a lot of swings in the other ranks though.
Had a friend who was rank 8 go 5:5 and wound up Plat 5, and another friend who was rank 13 went 8:2 and ended up Plat 1.
So there was def some loosening for most people.
I'm not a huge fan of the 2 month season length. I think 3 or 4 would be more ideal. I mean, short seasons make sense if the game has a quick to reach 'end game' - like Diablo 3 has (where people are farming end game content within 72 hours of a seasonal reset). I feel like HotS doesn't really have a 'end game' unless you are Grand Master. I get the same enjoyment out of a good game last week as I did a year ago when I first started. It doesn't fade over time.
It took me over 6 hours to do 10 games today. So if the average Joe can only play 3 hours or so a night, even if he played every day of the 2 months for 3+ hours he'd probably only get in 300 ranked games. Considering it takes like 5 wins in a row to rank up someone would need, what, over 55% win rate for those 300 games just to move up 1 tier (ie Platinum 5 to Diamond 5). Most players have around 51-53% win rate, so I don't think in 2 months many players will break out and climb to another rank tier without a serious lucky win streak.
But I guess it's a preference thing. They're just testing. We'll see how it feels after the 2 months are up.
