your first 20 games will gain/lose you the most MMR. this is an expediting process formulated by the MMR algorithms that blizzard/hotslogs scripted. after that youll get +/- 5 to 15 mmr per game

yup. Essentially, the more games you play the less variance you'll see per win/loss.

Also, MMR gained/lost is done on a TEAM level...meaning that if you have 4k mmr but your friend has 3k mmr you won't lose more for a loss than him...since all your MMRs are averaged into a single TEAM mmr.

I think poopies meant to say first 200 games though, rather than 20...cause it takes around 100-200 for your MMR to really 'settle' to where you actually belong skillwise.

Another thing to note is, if you are 2300 now with only a few games played...chances are you are going to climb a bit above that (unless you got some lucky wins or something...which is pretty common in the beginning of peoples placements).

I've been insanely streaky since returning. I don't remember it being like this before all the Matchmaking reworking.

I'll go on like a 5 game HL winning streak, then go on an 8 game HL losing streak, then win 4 in a row, then lose 5, then win 7.

I don't feel like I'm playing any worse in these matches, my K/D is obviously slightly worse on losing teams but my typical Seige/Hero dmg and EXP is all pretty steady. I went from rank 20 after 20 game placement, to Rank 9 in 1 day, then down to 12, then back to 9, now down to 14.

Crazy. Maybe just a fluke. Feels like, same as always, all matches are complete steamrolls either winning or losing. We either outkill the team 37-9 or get rocked 40-5. Is this streak-y-ness common?

I think it is semi common in the sense that this game is easy to get frustrated at and tilt due to your teammates (who often times are shit) having such a huge impact in the game. So one bad game can make you tilt and lose another which can just get you sucked into a negative mindset where you couldn't care less about losing....happens to me all the time.

Yeah I'm 2385 with 3 placement games left. I don't remember if it was said on here, Reddit or both, but what's fucked me before is trying to fill gaps for a team. Idc if we need a support.. I'm picking an Assassin..

My brother is around that MMR and he has the same issue/mindset.

Easier to carry. If anything I'll grab the tank but not support

he just plays raynor/kt/tyrande as much as he can and seems to believe it is helping him win.
