I'm in the same boat of pain. I know I have what it takes to get to Rank 1 but shit teams are extremely aggravating..
Yeah. I mean I know I've only fallen back like 6-7 wins for rank 1 with todays losses, but the whole concept of there being no real "noticable" difference between games @ rank 2 and games @ rank 10 is what bugs me.
You have the same chance of a complete potato field of a team @ rank 2 as you do @ rank 12. In fact, I've had astronomically stronger teams with more knowledge of the core fundamentals of HOTS on my main @ rank 15, then I have on my smurf at rank 2-4. I think that is what bugs me the most. I mean, yeah, there are obviously genuinely good players who deserve to be rank 1.... but the number of rank 1 players that I was teamed with today who felt like they belonged in the rank 30-40 range that I was playing against 2 weeks ago leads me to feel like the whole 'rank 1' tag means almost nothing.
And the other major issue is still the ability for rank 1 players to party up with vastly weaker teammates. This whole concept of 3100 MMR Rank 1 players bringing their 1900 MMR rank 14 players into a rank 2-3 game is not right. Then the rank 1 spends the entire game hugging his rank 14 buddy. Rank 1 Rehgars laning with rank 14 Zagaras instead of Zag soloing. Rank 14 Diablos only peeling for rank 1 teammates whil the real squishies he is supposed to be peeling for are getting jumped all over 10 feet away from him.
I think I just need a bit of a break. It was frustrating dropping from rank 3-15 in a week on my main. Dropping from 30 points off rank 1 down to rank 5 is just as annoying. There is no reason for it. It's not like I change my style. Same heroes, same play style, same positioning, same strategies, same communication level with teammates, the only thing that changes is the people I get paired up with. Even my KDA doesn't change much. I just finished a game as a Li-Ming where I went 8-8-0 while my team died 32 times. Lead the team in siege and hero damage and experience.... Diablo died 11 times, Rehgar died 9.... I can't really change anything in that situation.
But oh well. Hots is obviously a fun game. Just so much variance in the match making that you don't know if you're team is going to be pro-tier good or absolutely garbage. It's literally a coin flip. You can end up winning 40-1, or losing 50-0. That to me makes no sense, especially with how easy of a comeback mechanic this game has. I could understand blowouts at rank 40+ because a smurf can literally carry a team at that rank. But to have such huge swings in rank 1 games seems wrong.
