Thankfully I am stubborn and I managed to string together 2 wins before bed haha :P

Pretty rough day, 2-9. But I guess big picture it's not that crazy. Went 12-3 yesterday so I was bound to hit a nasty streak I guess. Ending on 2 wins makes it hurt less :P

you went +9 yesterday and -7 today so assuming the MMR gain/loss was (on average) the same, you ended up ahead a good 20ish MMR.

It could be worse.

That's the stuff Blizzard needs to avoid. Elevator ranking caused by noobs.

Blizzard believes you have 50% winrate on the rank you belong. But at some time you get potatos, people not playing for 1 year and then you lose 7-9 games in a row costing you 2-3 ranks.

When I see something like HL Rank 1 TL Rank 34 I already know that guy sucks hard and guess what you will see him die 11+ times.

We had a rank 1 KT on our team last night that was probably the worst KT ive seen in 200-300 games. He went 2-8-9, had less damage than my Diablo (and I wasnt even running light breath). I think the skill variance at each rank is wild. I understand bumping into the rare player who is extremely out of place at their rank... but it seems like every game there are 1 or 2 players at your rank who simply seem to have no clue what is going on around them.

And the number of rank 3-4-5 players who are in 5th draft spot and immediately select Jaina and just sit there silently through the draft process assuming that people are going to fill for them is crazy. I would say almost 50% of my games the 5th pick on our team ignores 3-4 draft msg's from teammates asking what they would like to fill and when the team sees no response we panic fill for them and then they lock in Nova/Jaina/Zagara.

I guess it keeps the game exciting lol. But yeah there is certainly sn elevator effect like you said.

Over the last 3 weeks i went from:

Unranked to rank 19
Rank 19 immediately to rank 9
Rank 9 down to rank 14
Rank 14 up to 4
Rank 4 back to 8

Just all over the place. And i would understand if I felt like I was throwing or something but my KDA and how I approach each game is pretty much the same throughout

To see individual skill you need to see the hero levels of your teammates and the Top 3 heroes.

There are morons on Rank 1 that have like 1000 games. 900 with one hero. He is forced to heal picks lilli and goes serpent build.

Those noobs don't know how several characters work and fuck up the game. The minority of the losses is really caused by skilldifference.

Shitpicking and Failpicking is a major cause. You pick the strongest characters on your first 2 picks to deny combos while leaving options for 2xw w/spec open unless it's a map where one setting has an advantage.
And look how 70% of your HL game picks look like.

Some 1 character player arguing that Anub/Artanis/Sonya/Arthas are good solotanks. The game needs something like 200 ranks to have a proper distribution of skill. with Rank 100 being the max rank you can reach through placements.
Currently there are more 1 character idiots buying the cheap heroes + their 1 character and smurfing than actual players.

I blame my first HL loss at rank 8 on myself as someone said Anub is the best pick for the comp with others agreeing. I said I'm not that good at Anub but I know the build and they said " youll be fine ".

I don't think I'm that bad of a player but I didn't know who to cocoon (I was going for the support or highest damage), I didn't know when I should be charging in and who I should be spiking. Just overall played terrible.

I had a situation like that yesterday. Our team already had Diablo (My primary tank), and were asking me to do a second tank (because the other team had 2 and it was a team fight map). I offered up Leoric, which I typically do quite well with and rarely die if I'm honest... they all spammed "no no no no" "Muradin!". So I caved in and played a Muradin that I have played twice in my life about 4 months ago when he was more popular than he is now. I had the master tier pick list from Hotslogs but I had no idea how to position myself, when to leap, when to stun. I was playing him as I would Diablo. Aggressive. And I got blown the fuck up lol

I have no problem filling roles, I personally kind of like picking 5th because it's nice to play Support/Tank here and there... but what I can't stand is people telling me to ignore what I'm good with and pick some fringe META hero. Like when people tell me to pick Zera, which I have limited (level 6) AI related experience on... I typically say "I'm sorry, I'd rather play a hero I know then try to counter a mage with one that I don't".

I can understand people demanding "a tank" or "A heal" when you're 5th pick and need to fill... but I would rather people not pressure me into playing something I've barely touched over something I have experience in. IMO a person with 200 games on a Leoric (even tho he isn't a solo tank) could probably do a better job of solo tanking than telling him to pick a Jo that he played 2 AI games on.

Experience > META for me anyways.

Anub is never the best pick. There's your probablem. Oh, and initiating with your escape is pretty bad too. You should just about never do that.

Yeah if I'm going to tank I'm going to either play Diablo, Johanna or Muradin, in that preferred order.

I was treating his burrow like Muradins leap (by only using it as an escape or the rare chance of using it to secure a kill). Problem was, unlike Johanna or Diablo I didn't full understand when my "Oh shit g2g" time had come. Basically, I felt like I understood how to play the hero but didn't understand how to tank with him.

Plus, Anub sucks.

I don't think I would ever play him now unless against a chogall. Even then, I think there are much better options available. Yeah....he's just really shit.
