My schoolclass are going to Amsterdam next week. We have to prepare something to tell about Amsterdam, in my case we're going to tell about the canals in amsterdam.

But the informations on the internet seems to be pretty bad, so i thought if any of you guys could help me?

I could need some information about why it gave more space to villages, which function it had for Amsterdam, and what uses it has today. Also if you know about the future plans for it, is it going to be extended, or is it going to be removed.

That should be a decent start.

Nice facts that one could tell could include the amount of bikes that are thrown into the canal annually (and the new sport: throwing small cars into the canal), the gay pride canal tour, a map of Amsterdam lining out its weird structure because of the canals, and the houses next to the canal. Especially the latter, so-called 'grachtenpandjes', can easily cost more than €3 million.

EDIT: and don't forget the flower market. If you go there, visit Studio 2. I still believe they have the best tosti's in Amsterdam. Very basic, but well done.

And i dont need anything about where to visit, we're only going to stay in amsterdam for a day, and that's already full planned
