I'm moving to NL next year and the reason i'm doing this is mostly because of the weed.
I remember reading that they've planned to close the cofee shops in Maastricht and in several other citys, is that true? Will the laws regarding weed change in the near future?

God I hope not.

there are some conservative powers active in holland that are trying to make such changes but I don't think it will happen in the next 10 years.

weed related laws wont change for sure, but other drugs laws will!

They might change, actually. More than half of the Dutch parliament is in favor of legalizing weed completely. Probably won't mean anything for you, but it will mean that coffeeshops can buy weed legally. The leader of the Dutch Labour party, that happens to be the virtual leader in the polls at the moment, is in favor of having local governments plant and distribute the weed. So something might actually change after the 9th of June, which is the date of the upcoming elections.
