hey!

I had a wild idea today...

I was thinking about how messy the posts on jsp can be (im a d2 user) and how posts can be easily lost...

For example

Say i find an item, so i post it for sale at 50fg

Then 10 min later someone finds the same item, and posts it for 70fg

then the person looking for the item sees their post because of the time they are on, and not mine,

and the other gets the fill....

Anyway, my idea/suggestion, which i hope youd be interested is this!

I dont know if any of you trade stocks or crypto, but in the trading world there is whats known as market depth, where is listed every available share, at its offered price,
Listed on the left is the price people are asking to pay, and on the right that sellers are asking to sell.

I was thinking that to intergrade something like this on d2r, would not only make things so much more organized, especially with generic items like keys, torches, bases, uniques, but could really benifit the whole community in providing accurate price valuations and data.

Hope you read this and to hear back from you :)

Hi Seris,

There is too much of a variety of items to implement a complex feature like this. There’s also a few other concerns listed below.

1) Market manipulation - what’s stopping other people from intentionally manipulating the price of an item to undercut others and then retracting their items for sale?

2) Significant overhead - Not just to build and implement this, but for us to use it as well. Sellers will have to go through more workflow as well as buyers. The Search feature is much more simpler to use to find multiple different threads as well as sellers using the search feature for buyers looking for the item.

3) There’s almost no shortage of supply and demand in games like Diablo which majority of trades are done, often times trades are done within minutes of posting a topic, this alone defeats the need of any type of market depth.

For future suggestions, I recommend reading this - https://forums.d2jsp.org/topic.php?t=57896631&f=258

G'day Serisfreak,

Rarely does your scenario actually happen, usaully it's the other way around with a trader listing an item for 70 then another trader selling the item undercutting and listing it for 50.

Any experienced trader looking to buy an item would surely always search for the best deal on the item that they'd want to purchase, that being the best stats for the cheapest price.

d2jsp has always been a "free market" without any price restrictions, it's the flexibility and simplicity that we offer which makes trading on our site enjoyable as well and competitive.

Voted no - Consider more KPI/OKR management of this idea and flesh it out better with your stakeholders to ensure strategic alignment.
