Just thinking it would expedite the process of getting a trade done when you need one A.S.A.P or don't wish to coordinate when you and the other person will be online.
Example: you need a fairly common item from whatever game, as it is you'll have to click through each search result to see if the user is actually on the site at the moment. with the filter as an available option, the site will save you the time and only show you people who have been on the site in the past ~20 minutes

I feel like this would filter out many potential trade partners as you can still be "online" and active ingame while actually appearing "offline" here on d2jsp (after 20+ minutes). Just because you appear offline doesn't mean you are, you could tap out anytime and make a click here to appear online again, so this wouldn't be an overall improvement to the trading community.

In addition to that, clicking through the topics of the search result to check if someone is online is a matter of 2 seconds so it literally takes no effort at all.

If they aren't actively looking at the site, though, then they won't see the notification to make a trade when you need to either way. That's no problem if you're not in a rush, but if you are then you don't want to waste time filtering through them. When you are in such a situation, you don't want to be spending time looking at listings that aren't going to help you. I'd agree that the effort put forth looking at topics that aren't being checked on at the moment isn't high relative to other things you could do, but imo it still takes time that adds up and could make you miss out on trading with someone that was still actively using the site.
