I would like to request that users with scammer tag and users with locked tag lose acces to post in General Chat.

Scammers who post in GC are usually obnoxious trolls who boast about their scam and don’t add any value to the forum.

Restricting acces to General chat would also function as extra motivation to repay their scam.

I think nearly 99.4% of people in GC are obnoxious trolls who don't add any value to the forum, and yet, here they are. If a post is spam, report it as such and move on imo.

This is incorrect, it's more 100% are there for their +1's.

If scammers can't post in GC then I will have less threads to reply to. Since I only vote entirely with my own interests, and not for the good of the site, I must decline as it would serve against my own interests in replying to threads.

No, that's not at all what I said. But part of the unlocking process is admitting your scams, repaying your scams, show good behavior and good will around the forums, and regain the privileges you had - ie no scammer tag, no locked gold, etc.
There's no point in putting someone in jail if we give them no chance of recovery and reinsertion.

I mean, let's be fair. I'm not pro-scammers or any shit of the sort, but I simply think that this suggestion is a step on a slippery slide. I don't know how I stand towards GC in general, I prefer the donor forum for anything similar-ish.

/Edit: Also, let's see it from the people that were scammed's perspective; they'd rather the scammers are more "comfortable" and haves places to behave and be an incentive to repayment, rather than trying to make a multi or giving up altogether.
