As I'm told when you report a post, mods will work the whole thread to make sure nothing was missed, spam, early bumps, harassment, etc. What if we could include an optional message up to 50 characters on the report and we could say things like. Multiple spam/off topic posts or only one spam post on this thread. Or. 2nd early bump in a row

Hi Vampe,

Mods already look through every post and are aware of all rules, therefore they know a violation when they see one. It’s good to think of ideas on how to better clean up the forums but we got to think of something that will actually deter users from violating the rules. Possibly recommending harsher punishments for rule violations?

I have a question. How many times would one need to break spam or early bump to actually get a 10% warn? Alot I'm assuming? Just small temp ban at first?. And how long does it take for 10% warn to go away? I feel like people would be more likely to pay attention more if they got a 10% warn after 5 violations. Which goes away in 45 to 150 days.

So you are correct, it does take several violations to get warned, I’ve submitted 8-10+ violations of the same user for the user to not get warned and instead suspended for a few hours. But all because we don’t see the punishment doesn’t mean nothing is being done, they have things they do on the backend that we don’t see.

Also, this hasn’t always been the case, back in the day users can violate a rule just a few times and they’d get warned.

And I agree, enforcing stricter punishments will certainly deter users from constantly violating the rules and deter re offenders.

Voting no here.
The report feature works just fine as it is and is effective.

If it’s a more complicated issue such as harassment for instance, you’re able to collect all relevant information and send it to a member of the staff group that manages that forum directly. But aside from that, like you’ve already alluded to, we review the entire topic when we receive a report so that we can view it in a broader context.
