I'd like to request that signatures with extreme flashing be prohibited. I don't want to suggest the removal of animated sigs, just the extreme ones that are developed to intentionally be disruptive / flashy at high rates of speeds. I'm aware these can be easily blocked with a plugin, but just thinking of the greater good I can't see any values these disruptive signatures provide. If some of these images were in a modern game release, the game would need to have a flashing message warning for epilepsy.

I understand this is a slippery slope as its hard to define what is "too much" but I think this can easily be left to the appropriate member++ to determine when the flashing/animation is "too much"

Flashy animations / images really bother me. They make me feel physically ill. I have sigs turned off but sometimes avatars are too flashy. I block those elements with my browser or i can't even read the topic sometimes. I also come across this issue in certain video game titles. I am among a small but significant minority of people that are sensitive to flashing lights (I'm not talking about epilepsy).

Over the years I have attempted at times to persuade game developers or people to be considerate of this matter, to no avail. It seems most people aren't bothered by these flashing things and that's the end of the debate as far as they are concerned.

In this case, if it becomes too much, I'd say just disable avatars and signatures. I value jsp's insane load times over a rand's avatar/signature anyway. Everyone should.

Voted no.

If you have issues with signatures it’s really simple to turn them off. I also don’t think having rules that are ambiguous is good for the site. Would be too hard to police.

This is something we already enforce if it is something far too over the top.
It's not all-encompassing and it's ultimately only the really bad ones we will ask to be removed.

That said: If you see a signature and you think it might be something a bit too excessive in this regard, please message a Members++ to have it reviewed.

Feel free to pm me if you have further questions.
