Idea source:
I'm a big fan of the ability to reference user names with the karat symbol: as it:

provides a clean and friendly appearance for the link which I know is safe to click on
triggers alerts for the user that they were mentioned
greatly simplifies linking users to other people.

As I've played other community sandbox games like EVE, the ability to link "guilds (corporations)" into chat as an asset has been a fun aspect that people can use to help display their groups after events or PVP fights, and drive better identity/esprit de corps.

Suggestion:
I'd like to suggest that ability within d2jsp as well. Example: #d2jsp would link to https://forums.d2jsp.org/guild.php?i=1 while displaying something like

I know this isn't like a "big win" functionality but the ability to reference things directly in the system, and the "friendly URL" it generates creates a nice user experience and provides additional value to guild owners/members. As guilds operate as a gold sink that provide value to the community, and from my understanding the community is the primary driver. My hope with this is that guilds, and guild membership would benefit from this functionality in a small, but meaningful way.

the character trigger is not relevant, I selected the octothorpe for demonstration, but any character, or combination would be satisfactory.
Unsure if there is any ability to provide triggers when a "guild" is mentioned, that would be for someone else with a big brain to come up with ideas, I don't know enough about guilds to know if this would be helpful, but I can see it being annoying for large groups if it isn't well defined.

To be honest, I don't see a use for this. I've tried to come up with a reasoning for mentioning a guild as a whole and linking to them, and the only one I can come up with is using the tag to ping all guild members to a topic with a notification.
But even that doesn't seem too useful as the guild chats anyway and plans things.
This would just be rife with the same abuse of tagging someone incessantly but on a grander scale.

Thanks for the feedback, I agree that referencing a guild should not alert/ping membership. I think there is an interesting aspect where it could have a trigger, but that is beyond the scope of my suggestion. As is - my ideal state, would just be to link in thread with a neat URL box similar to

Hyperlinks have been around since 1991 through the gopher protocol (which then transcended to HTML). JSP and other forums allow custom text for the links

D2jsp_Guild versus or

There is a difference. This functionality is used well in EVE - People can link corporations in local chat, and it becomes a bit of a persona. I'd like the ability to link contextual references to guild like we can for users. Not hyperlink to a guild.

Example uses:

1. "Im looking for someone to kill my uber dclone in HC" - Try guild
2. "What happened to this PaRD thread?" - happened to it
3. "Worlds first XXXXX in YYYY game" - "lets go ! amazing achievement!


This is more than linking to it, also hyperlink versus on platform reference - I know the on platform reference is 100% safe, I don't need to check the URL destination.

No worries about the alert. Well, personally and in my experience, I don't see a lot of those particular phrases. Doesn't mean what you're saying isn't true though. I think for those cases, creating a regular hyperlink would be just fine
