I've always enjoyed spending time discussing, sharing and trading with people on this platform.
However, there is this occasional hiccup with people inclined to go beyond reasonable limits and I see this too often...
Myself? I tend to ask if a person really meant what they said before having to Block them.
In that regard, it isn't me that I'm concerned about.
I thought I couldn't care less about how
this website deals with people harassing, insulting, manipulating or worse, but I think I've got enough perspective to offer a suggestion
that would help keep this website about healthy exchanges. While "blocking a person" from sending you private message prevents the nonsense in the background, I believe
that preventing them from posting on your topics and quoting you, specifically, should be part of the same option (not separate options). I don't see any justification as to why a person should
have to deal with someone's antics after they've cut ties. This would force people to act with a little more integrity and think twice before sending profanities,
posting things that could be misinterpreted as offensive (or intended to be), harassment (quotes on quotes) etc etc.
While this may be hard to implement; I think it's worth it and countless people would feel relieved to connect
without having to deal with a person's inability to behave.
I know the
(linking users) tool has been implemented
during my absence and I think it's wonderful. However, it is too often abused by people with nefarious intentions rather than to inform someone of a sale etc so
it would also need to be affected by the blocked list (as it sends out a notification to the user).
