I purchased forum gold as a new member and was forced to verify my identity using my ID: I don't really understand why this is your job instead of the credit card company, as it is with almost every other eComm company in the world, but that's fine I did it the first time.
But now i'm being forced to re-identify myself yet again after purchasing more forum gold. It doesn't feel at all like the site is trying to protect me, seeing as it took my money, converted it into forum gold, and then locked the forum gold from transferring. Moderator's take 1 minute to request, but this verification process takes a lot longer (with no expectation set).
Can you help me understand a couple things that are supposed to be in my best interest of security?
1) Why not be clear about when you will be asking people to verify themselves so it isn't a frustrating surprise - or - ask them to verify up front. Ectunnel.com, an everquest community for buying/selling accounts and services has a great membership model that requests ID up front to establish 'verified' members. It creates a trusted community upfront for who is verified and who isn't.
2) Why take the money and then lock the forum gold? The only person you're protecting at that point feels like the company. It would make more sense to decline the transaction entirely until verification is made.
Because rands/scammers/degenerates can simply buy a visa gift card and link it to their paypal. Or they can use rogue debit cards services and basically spin up temp numbers, etc. Link their cash app debit cards, etc. It's really endless..
JSP verifying 1 account per ID helps sift through all the masquerading.
