it may be quite minor but it would be very convenient to un-track a topic instead of going to tracker to find it

In my personal opinion, even though your suggestion does provide more convenience - it is simply too minor of an improvement over the current system to be even considered in the first place. Going to your tools takes on click. I might be wrong here, but given how few ideas ever get implemented, I don’t yours will get much support.

It doesn’t seem to provide enough utility in my opinion.

However, I might be wrong. I would add a poll to your topic to see if you get more support

This is now complete, when you click the Track Topic link within a topic that you have already tracked, it will now allow you to untrack it immediately from that popup.
