So from a Forum I was on before they allowed visitor comments on profiles. Usually they were friends just checking in and saying hi or joking etc. I know with a lot of social media platforms that they allow visitor comments like facebook, steam etc. With this site I think it would be a good way to vouch for someone as a trader, to deck out someone's profile, for guild mates to easily check up on each other, etc.

To prevent abuse:
The user can delete whichever posts they want, so they don't have someone spamming their page.
They can set the visitor notes so only friends can view the notes.
They can disable the visitor note system.

This would not be a place to put scammer all over a persons profile, that's for the scammer accusation forum, this is literally just for friends to communicate and engage more on the site and free up our pm space for trades or private matters.

Hi Brandy,

Thank you for your suggestion, but jsp has implemented these in different ways, see my examples down below.

Communication to engage in guild - Guild chat
Communication to vouch? - Use a mediator, no vouching necessary and vouches can be used in collaboration to scam
Communication to say hi or plug in? - Use private message or discord

User deletion has been denied many times on this site for good reason, users can use it for manipulation of trades or comms.

I don't think this is necessary and additions like these will turn this more into a social platform which I think we already have a good balance of social interaction.

No

This would require a lot more work to moderate user comments for violations /illegal links, pictures etc...

I understand you said it can be deleted by the account owner, but people are often afk, not checking it frequently, etc... and this would lead to many issues and a TON more moderation work

Understandable, I get it from that point of view...

As someone who had a person fill my inbox with ramblings recently, I could only imagine what the afore mentioned person may have done had they been able to access “visitor comments” on my profile.

Hey Brandy :)

I like the idea a lot. I also understand the points mentioned above as well. I am sure something like this will increase people's engagement and how much time they spent on the platform, which is great. However, because this website primarily relies on volunteers work, I understand that the enforceability of the site's rules and the internal control will suffer a little. Maybe this is something this platform can come back to later, once they have more volunteers/helpers who would be willing to oversee the social aspect of the site.

I definitely vote yes on this. Though I understand that, for now, even having the ability to add notes to your friends will be already a great accomplishment :)
