Thought of an interesting idea since there are a lot of scammers out there nowadays. Anyone tagged in scammer accusations should immediately be granted a tag beside their names saying "under investigation" or something of the sort.

This way new users who might trade with the person can check out the SA post and make the informed decision of whether or not they want to continue the trade. This can help make up for the delay on locking scammers due to mod's investigations while also encouraging accused users to respond and sort out the matter in order to get the tag removed.

No poll, but I would vote no on this.

Users could create false accusations resulting in a user receiving this tag for no reason among some many other issues with this.

The scammer accusations forum also has a search feature, if you’re curious as to whether a user has had an accusation against them recently.

Valid points, my hope was for the tag to mainly be neutral and not negative. Just an indicator and the end decision would be for the trader to make after getting more context.

People who get scammed + those who frequent SA seem to find a way to get the word out regardless by tracking the scammer's posts and warning everyone, flooding their PMs, etc. which is just as harmful in a false positive scenario. But I do agree, if users leveraged the search feature in SA before each trade we'd be able to achieve a similar result. Just trying to think of a way to hinder ppl like that guy who scammed like 10 ppl in a 20 minute window today lol.

I have to respectfully disagree with this idea. There is a reason most of the legal systems presume people innocent until proven guilty. You cannot flip around the system and tag potentially innocent users of the forum.

A lot of the time, topics posted on the S/A forum present more complex issues fueled by emotions and personal attacks. Not every case is straightforward enough to tag the accused person.

I see where you're coming from. Unfortunately, this would have negative repercussions and could be abused. It would have a "guilty until proven innocent" effect.

That’s the dumbest idea ever. So basically everyone is able to troll you and give you a tag for months which makes you unable to trade cos ppl won’t trust you because of it obviously

It’s simple: if you don’t trust someone, don’t give first or request a mediator
