This might have been mentioned a thousand times before but I couldn’t find any topics related.

Im surprised a big website like this has no trust feature implemented. I know its not easy, and the fact that there are active mediators 24/7 may make someones trust harder to measure, but I think that it would be something that would motivate people on gaining.

Im new in d2jsp and the fact that I have to wait several years to make people think im trustworthy is kind of weird. I already made multiple trades, out of which even in some of them the other trader went first and I personally get a great feeling when being trusted, because I know I will not let them down. It would be nice to keep track of these honorable trades and recognize the people who are trustworthy with idk, maybe a trade counter? Trades made w/ mediator and trades made w/o mediator?

Just throwing in some ideas but im sure a site like this has to have a good explanation on why there is no such system in place already.

Anyways, lmk what you think!

,

I hear you, but the fact that there are active mediators 24/7 means that traders are encouraged and expected to use mediators. Regardless of the # of successful trades, users can still scam, and this is why the 2/3 rule is not a formal rule.

There is a system in place which deems users Trusted with some simple yet difficult to meet criteria. It is impossible to deem users entirely Trusted, and this status is reserved for the most active and trusted users on the site. These users can become mediators.

Essentially, the site holds this view: every user who is Trader: Not Rated is equal.

There’s personal blogs that people use for vouches

Also not a great idea imo. If you’re a good and honest trader you’ll eventually make a name for yourself. For most high end trades vouches don’t mean anything (for example unperm items can still be sold as perm if the profit is high enough for a certain player)

Following the rules set in place is a good place to start. If you keep on topic, follow the rules, and have a positive attitude. Great start taking the right step forward to make your experience more enjoyable not only to you but to others.

Secondly, When in doubt, Use a mediator. With the mediation system, finding a mediator is not only the safest way to trade but it’s extremely fast to get a mediation going. Wait time is fast and easy experience not only for you but for your trading partner. Best way to avoid getting scammed.

Lastly, As stated in post #2, there is information for the trusted tags/mediators. Here’s one of the quotes I have found from that post.

Quote
We at d2jsp reward members who have displayed good character, honesty, integrity, and activity on the forum with this special rating.

The characteristics of this member can be described as generally liked and respected, helpful, honest, ethical, outgoing, active, and friendly.
Simply being a good trader is not enough, more importantly it is a philosophy of helping others, being tolerant, following all forum rules, and subscribing to the golden rule; "treat others as you would like to be treated".

We all have problems, but it is the method that these members use to find the solution that is noticed by the site. The ability to overcome personal differences and continue to create a positive environment throughout the forums is perhaps the most desirable attribute of these members.

Nobody is perfect. But following the golden rule “treat others as you would like to be treated” goes a long ways. Remember, when trading for your safety and theirs, use a mediator. It’s free service. Cannot beat that :). I feel like the system we have in place works. A vouching system, idea might seem like a good one, but it has many flaws and can be easily manipulated. And it can be abused. Potentially creating more harm then good.

It doesn't take years for people to trust you. Just trade actively and successfully for some months and people will notice you.
There's really no way to make a trade counter unless people were forced to go through some sort of process every time they trade using fg, and that would show the forum gold trades only.
Also people really like to abuse things. Friends could trade with each other daily. Even scammers might work together, who knows.

I will highlight one part of your post which I personally find a bit worrying:

I feel like you might be referring to the fact that users with an old join date are usually trusted more. This a trend you should not take part in.
I've noticed as well that people trust me because of my 2008 join date, and this makes me feel quite worried about those traders' safety.

Anyone can scam. And an older member might have more insights into how to do it and get away with it. There is absolutely no reason to trust anyone on this website. Hence you should always use a mediator.

The website should not implement any feature that will make people considered trustworthy based on dubious standards. The only people that the website vouches for are those with a trusted/mediator tag, and that's how it should stay.
