Sort of like a semi-permanent mediator: if a user puts X amount of FG in a collateral/safety box, they can trade with a "trusted" or "Collateral: x" next to their username. The idea is that the user cannot easily withdraw that fg: perhaps it takes 3-7 days. It is still theirs. And if that user is ever accused of scamming, that collateral/safety box is frozen until the scam accusation is resolved.

For a lot of users that are just sitting on thousands of fg anyway, I doubt it would affect their liquidity. And for newer members like me, I'd be happy to gain trustworthiness that way. And if enough people opt into this, it would greatly reduce scamming, as currently any experienced scammer can take advantage of the rollover time for a scam accusation to pan out by quickly dumping their fg for in-game items. This idea would allow someone's safety box to be frozen automatically.

This idea would save time over using a mediator, because you only have to do it "once": a guy with 10k fg can create a safety box of 4k, and anyone who trades him for a Ber can be fine skipping the mediator step, knowing that there is enough collateral if something happens. Or at the very least, the safety box amount can serve as a partial refund for anyone who gets scammed for more than the box's value.

Hi Wale!

First and foremost, welcome to jsp and thank you for your suggestion.

This process requires too much overhead and in my opinion is unnecessary. Users can simply request a mediator which only takes 1 minute rather than wait multiple days before fg can be released in comparison to the “safety box” method.

In the future, I recommend adding a pole to suggestions like these to see how the community feels about it.

I don’t believe this change will be implemented.

d2r mediation can be done in 5-10min if you are used to it and more like 15mins if you dont :)

I do request a mediator but people back out because of it :(. But thank you for the responses, I agree it can have quite an overhead cost. I don't know the programming side of it to custom edit the forum code for such an idea. And I'll be sure to add a poll next time

Absolutely not.

Anything that makes users trust random strangers during trades is a big no-go for me.
I notice all the time during trades that people give first because of my early join date or high post count. While this doesn't inconvenience me, it does make me concerned for their other trades.

The website should continue reminding people that they simply shouldn't trade anyone other than those with a trusted tag. With anyone else, they should just use a mediator.

If someone does not want to use a mediator, they may have malicious intent and by avoiding that you may have avoided getting scammed

Trading with a Mediator does not take long at all and is the safest way for both parties to come out of the trade happily :D

Yes... yes it does take long... I used my first mediator maybe 3 days ago... took over 45 minutes for the guy to get me my fg

He logged off after trade but never sent fg... me and the other guy stayed in game for 45 minutes made post here... had no idea what's going on.. made me not want to use a med ever again and now today I got scammed... worst part is altho this site can most likely see all movements of fg between users the only way to get your fg back is if the accused decides to give it back!?!?!?! Wow

The delay in receiving fg is probably because the guy didn't PM the mediator back saying they received the item, as the instructions tell both parties to do. I've used a mediator like 13? times now, like 1/3 of my trades or something. And it has never been more than 10 minutes. Sometimes it literally adds less than a minute to my trade time: we both get in the game while the system finds a mediator, and by the time one is found, we are both in game, do the trade, and both reply to the med. boom, done.

He had no reply as to why he did t do it right away... both me and other party had pm the mediator.. the med went offline for probably personal reasons.... this is not the point tho... new to site and first time using the med service wasnt fun... i thought maybe i got scammed from The med so it was a pain in the ass to deal with and no explanation so I decided not to use anymore.

Nothing works 100% all the time.. but i think title has a good idea

I kinda liked my idea too but someone pointed out the cost is quite high: u have to hire a programmer to modify the forum code, QA, make sure the community/public back the idea, etc.

Even if the guy didnt pm the mediator immediately, you don't need to worry: the fg is not with the buyer anymore, he can't scam you, unless he wants to try to claim you never sent the item. But I've never heard of a scam like that, they just grab the item/fg and run.
