Heya all and thx for reading.
First i want to say sry for any bad english or grammar, since english isn’t my native language. I’m a 39 year old, long term D2 player but pretty new to jsp. Came here to make some trades and working towards enigma one day, but seeing the frequent posts in scam accusation made me realize how big of of problem this seems to be. Yes I know that there are mediators but it seems like a fair amount of ppl don’t use them.
I think i have a solution for the scam problem that would protect both buyers and sellers, reduce the work for the d2jsp mediators and staff in terms of working on scam cases and would also prevent the loss of fg in case someone tries to scam. I think most of the scam could be prevented just by making the transfer of fg from one user to another a 2 step process.
It could look like this:
You start the transfer by putting in the amount you want to send, enter your gold password and press ok. Instead of being send directly to the possible scammer (which could then use the fg to buy stuff), the receiving user gets a msg that X amount of fg has been prepared for him by user xy and the fg gets subtracted from the buyer (to prevent him from spending it multiple times). Another window pops up for the buyer with 2 buttons like „complete transfer“ and „request a mod“. After the seller sees that the fg is reserved for him, he can trade the items, the buyer presses „complete transfer“ and the deal is done. If the seller doesn’t give the items, the buyer could press „request a mod“, provide proof of the deal not happening like intended and then the mod could decide on base of the evidence either to give the reserved fg back to the buyer, or to the seller if the seller provides evidence of the trade being made.
This way scammers couldn’t spend the scammed fg immediately for items and making profit and victims wouldnt lose any fg if someone tries to scam them and the scammer couldn’t spend the fg before he gets banned. Sellers also wouldn’t have to worry about not being paid, since after the fg is reserved for them they could call a mod and get their fg while the buyer can’t access it for other trades.
I think this is a potential solution for the problem with some additional tweaking. If everything goes right, it’s just a single click more than the current system. If anything goes wrong, both sides would be protected. This could greatly improve trust in d2jsp and trades and decrease frustration among users and the fear of being scammed.
Im not a programmer so i don’t know how hard this would be to implement.
Thx for reading so far! Pls be nice, just trying to help
