I'd like to suggest a possiblity to review traders that you've traded with.

Simply allowing a user to leave a review and rating is a terrible idea, because someone might buy reviews in order to scam more people, however a whitelisting system should be implemented along with it.

Whitelisting rules for leaving review/rating:
1. >200 posts or more (1000 would be a safe guess, but with an influx of new players 200 posts might be better)
This would be best if it was restricted to only posts from trading grounds and no general threads.

2. account at least 1 month old (safe to adjust further)

3. last fg transaction with trader that you're leaving review for was done in the past 1 week (or less or more, adjustable)

4. fg transactions cannot even out - this is to prevent people who just send fg and get it back
This has a flaw though - if I send fg to person X, then I'm able to leave a review for person X. However, if I'm a scammer and person X is my "friend", then after leaving review, person X will send fg back to me, which would even out fg transactions. Now review stayed even though fg was evened out.
This is a bordercase, but would be nice to hide a review in such a case or think about what to do with these.

Things to rate (1-5):
a ) general
b ) responsiveness
c ) how fast the transaction was
d ) social aspect (not applicable if game is 100% trade, so join -> state fg vs item -> t4t, but if someone is a douche then you'd want to mark it as a 1)
+ comment if wanted
----------
From developer standpoint:
1. Easy to implement for total, a bit trickier for only trading grounds but still manageable
2. Very easy to implement
3. Easy to implement
4. Tough one due to bordercases

Would be immediately abused, we already have a trader system and it has worked fine for 18 years now.

how so if all 4 points were implemented?

I'm not saying to discard the trader system, but add another thing on top of it

Because 1 month and 200 posts describes about 75% of the people locked for scamming in the past week.

that's why I mentioned that it's adjustable - how does 6 months and 1000 posts sound like?

I would hate to be rated on

Responsiveness - it’s not an irl business and to some of us we just casually trade in pockets of time that we have.

Speed of transaction - i take for example much longer to make a trade on the americas server compared to Asia server (load times and even the delay in transferring items to the trade screen)

Social aspect - I mean I don’t mind this as much but meh.

Also I hate the idea of anyone being able to rate you. Based on some of the characters you see on the forums, you’ll likely see some abuse

That being said, number or successful transactions would be a more viable method of rating a trader.

It would also take away the notion that more post and earlier join date means more trustworthy. A lot of people are just spamming for post count.

For example

Trader A has a join date 2016 with 4000 posts and makes 10 successful trades a day

Trader b has a join date of 2020, has 1000 posts and makes 50 successful trades a day.

I would be comfortable going first with both parties.

What do you think of this?

I would be down for such system, however keep in mind that from what I'm seeing on FG transfer history, they are not assigned to a topic or anything - just has a comment, sender, receiver and amount, which would require some kind of a system that would allow marking each transaction as successful trade or not.
For example, I made a mistake once and sent 150 fg for um to one person, which turned out to be a misread from me and they were ISO um, so they just sent 150 fg back to me - this is not a successful transaction (well, it kinda is since receiver sent it back which is nice)

Regarding Trader A and B, I would be comfortable with both parties as well.

EDIT:
So with what I've just described, I would be ok for "+/-" system with whitelisting as stated in first post + attaching a comment if desired
