Hi,

A small feature that came to mind was to have MORE notifications removed from users that you have blocked. (Tagging, quoting, posting in Original Poster's topics)

Even though blocking should be treated as a last resort, there are some that quote/tag/post intentionally in topics to try and spam your notifications.

Personally, I use notifications as the best way to respond to non-pm communication (trade topics, being asked something in a topic, etc), so the more streamlined it is toward people that I don't have blocked, the better.

Where the idea stemmed from:

Here is my test using (blocked him for a few minutes) -- notifications still show if they post in your topic or use the ^ feature:

The only exceptions to having noticiations always show:

* Tagged or quoted in the Scammer Accusation forum
** Tagged or quoted by a Members++ or higher
*** Gold Logs (some people use this to ask to unblock if it was an accidental block -- a reasonable way to communicate as presented here)

Let me know what you all think, or if this feature is a little too niche -- thanks!

The new feature is nice and it seems to be working as intended. Also adding the addition block features mentioned here may not work with how the site is designed and the community that is here to use it. Trades and more, and in a timely manner, are very much important aspects of notification and how this site is able to allow the community to enjoy the site and with ease.

If you are interested in changing notification settings and more there is a site suggestion set up in which you may be able to discuss your site suggestion here as something that could be applied to it.

Here is that topic. Post #1: Update Notifications Tab For User Friendly Use

Members can communicate, trade, and more while without breaking the site rules. The site and system is designed like that and the Staff Team supports it. Changing the newer system anymore may result in undesirable results and when the site does not need it. If a user is having issues with someone they blocked and if rules are being broken then the notification system allows members to be aware of that and report it to the appropriate staff members of the site.

The idea and intention here might be for a good personal reasons and I respect that but we are a Community, so in that sense it should be balanced and I do feel it currently is.

Yes.

The OP has mentioned "Even though blocking should be treated as a last resort" in this. Adding these features offered in this site suggestion to the current system is enabling that across sections of the site and outside of ones personal d2jsp.org activities.

For example a user in this topic could have a member of our site blocked and not receive notifications about posts to the topic they created, this missing discussions regarding the topic and more.

Currently if a user is wrong to block someone and is notified by jsp because that blocked member has contributed to the users topic or posts then that seems a civil way to allow differences between member(s) of our community while moving forward with trade and other.

Why do you feel this site suggestion needs to be implemented?

a big NO from me.

there have been some users on this forum who blocked me and i deserved to be blocked by them.
in time i accepted this myself and i started to post in their topics or somewhere else where i
mentioned them (using ^ ). showing them i'm sorry and telling them why. in the end some users
even unblocked me and we are fine today.

now your suggestion asks to remove this feature. this will keep things negative between you & the blocked user.
blocking is not necessarily a permanent thing - it can be undone. but your suggestion tries to turn it into a permanent thing
because it's giving less possibilities to contact the user in question.
